Trend Follower 5min System Notes

I’ve used this system on my charts for a really long time, never made a note of it or really ever sat down to test these systems out. I remember for the first few months of my Forex trading, I was reluctant to actually learn how this system worked, I just counted how many times the green and red arrows were right and for how many pips. And most of those old addages ring true with this system, for instance, a sell signal will always be more accurate in a market trending down, and a buy signal will always be more accurate in a market trending up. Also, its important to note that these signals were always more accurate and precipitated bigger moves that on a smaller time frame, common sense perhaps once you become used to Forex, but important to point out nonetheless. Truth be told, I never came in contact with the manual for this sytem until much later down the line. And on the Forex Factory official thread for this, the creator of this system says as much: All the other criteria explained in the manual must be met before the trade is taken. So there you go, a good reason why all of the arrow indicators did not work all the time, but I’ll be damned if for most pairs, they weren’t winners more often than not, the trick was finding the right exit in order to make sure you have a winner. You can’t just rely on a sell signal after buying as a sign to exit, since it might have retraced past your break even level by that point, in my opinion the arrows alone are a lagging indicator and it was foolhearty to try and trade them without other indicators like the creator suggests.

This system has its flaws and is not accurate 100% of the time, while it doesn’t get you into disastrous trades, it will send you a signal into a ranging market when this is a system designed for a trending market, and you can lose on trades during these retracements. With very ilttle Forex knowledge back them, I made the correct assumption that this system and the signals it sends out (the green and red arrows) should not be traded literally, there must be something else to this system that makes it so popular. Bond Spreads In Forex

Came across a really interesting article by Kathy Lien, Chief Strategist at FXCM about Bond Spreads and Interest and how they affect the Forex Market. Some of this is common sense, but is always good to be reiterated and gone over from time to time. Biggest Moving Currency Pairs in Forex

A while back I began to wonder which pairs in Forex move the most in a day. So, I began to research the topic and came up with a few different things that tell you how to find the biggest movers in Forex

If i had a stop loss of 20 pips on gbp/jpy and a 8 pip spread, its too much risk on my side… that’s almost 33% increase in stop loss, in the end, I’m paying 133% in case of a loss, just because I need to raise my stops to counter the wide spread.

I’ve heard and noticed that EUR/JPY is a really nice mover and considering my spread is only 7, I consider to trade this more often live as much as I do in demo.
